To assist in urgently rehoming over 100 cats, AWLQ is holding a cat sale this weekend at its Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre located at Coombabah.
When you adopt a pet through AWLQ you are supporting an organisation that re-homes and cares for up to 18,000 stray, surrendered and abandoned animals each year.
Melinda Phipps, AWLQ State Rehoming Manager, explained that the large number of cats currently in care is due to an extended kitten season:
“Kitten season can run for nine months of the year. With the long kitten season this year, we are continuing to receive new kitten litters at the centre. Due to this, some of our older adoption-ready cats have been overlooked with kittens being adopted in the first instance.”
With over 100 cats urgently needing a home, AWLQ is urging people to attend its Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre this weekend to meet and hopefully adopt a new feline family member.
“Our Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre has a rehoming pen so people can spend time in one of the pens with a cat and get to know their personality first hand. Cats really do pick their owners so this is a great way of becoming acquainted with one another before taking your new cat home,” Ms Phipps continued.
A few cats available for adoption at AWLQ’s Cat Sale:
Sunshine (brown and white Tabby) – Age: 1 year 6 months. Arrived at AWLQ on 13 February 2017 as a surrender.
Dolly (black and white cat) – Age:1 year 8 months. Arrived at AWLQ on 21 March 2017 as a surrender.
Elle (black cat) – Age: 1 year 4 months. Arrived at AWLQ on 8 February 2017 as a stray.
All AWLQ cats and dogs are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for the prevention of fleas and worms and may be eligible for three months free pet insurance with RACQ Insurance (conditions apply).
AWLQ donations over $2 are fully tax deductible.
