The Gold Coasts premier animal shelter Animal Welfare League QLD is hoping to entice some A-List Celebrities to visit the Gold Coast Rehoming Centre with their newest campaign PAW-RATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.

The AWLQ is in close proximity to the ‘Pirates’ film set. Their new campaign is a tongue in cheek enticer which will hopefully result in a visit from a movie star.

“Our Rehoming Centre is just five kilometres from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean, we would love to have the cast stop on their way to or from the set to meet some of our adorable shelter pets”, Ms Whitney says.

As a non-profit organisation the AWLQ is known for their quirky campaigns that are hugely successful and run on a shoe-string budget.

“Having movie stars at our rehoming centre would bring publicity that we would never be able to afford and with a bit of luck rehome some of the 140 animals available for adoption”, Ms Whitney says.

“Imagine if an A-list movie star stopped by! It would be incredible, it’s too good of an opportunity not to try, Ms Whitney says.

To keep the campaign alive and buzzing the staff has named incoming animals after the actors and cast members of the movie.

“You can currently adopt your very own Captain Jack Sparrow of the four legged variety to love forever if you like”, Ms Whitney says

The AWLQ has also created the hashtag #Pirates4AWLQ and asking the community to jump on board and share their promotional poster and use the hashtag to see if it goes viral.

“We have even discussed hiring a road sign so the actors can see it when they drive past on the way to the set – hopefully it works”, Ms Whitney says
