Animal Welfare League QLD will open doors to their very first pop up pet shop Tuesday 21st at The Pines Shopping Centre in Elanora and hopes to rehome 100 companion animals within their two month lease.

Communications Manager Brooke Whitney says it’s the first of its kind for AWLQ who first tested the pop up adoption formula by taking animals to adopt at community events and local markets.

“Each time we take our shelter animals out in to the community we have people wanting to adopt and like the fact they didn’t have to visit the shelter to view the animals”, Ms Whitney says.

Pop up Pets will be a great opportunity for people on the southern end of the Gold Coast to view animals available for adoption.

“There are still a lot of people on the Gold Coast who don’t know where the AWLQ is located and what we do. Our presence at The Pines will allow us to grow our supporter base and encourage people in the area to adopt a pet”, Ms Whitney says.

Its part of AWLQ’s continued commitment to being the experts in rehoming companion cats and dogs in South East QLD.

“In 2014 we rehomed 7,164 animals and in 2015 our goal is to hit 10,000 adoptions – Pop up Pets will help us achieve this goal”, Ms Whitney says.

The Pop Up Pet shop or ‘PUP’s will stock kittens, puppies and guinea pigs and will be open 7 days a week from 10am-4pm

All animals will be desexed, microchipped and vaccinated
