1st August 2014 Gold Coast–The Animal Welfare League QLD (AWLQ) is celebrating senior’s week (16th -24th August) by holding a number of activities at their Gold Coast Rehoming Centre.

The activities are tailored not only for seniors but for people who own senior pets.

Communications Manager Brooke Whitney says the rehoming centre will give an all areas access to people interested in animal welfare and would like to know more about the running of a shelter.

“The AWLQ is offering guided tours, morning tea, kitten cuddling and the chance to be a part of our dog walking enrichment program,” Ms Whitney says.

For pet owners with cats or dogs over eight years of age the AWLQ is holding a free seminar on how to care for your senior pet presented by AWLQ Veterinarian Charlotte Witty.

“Everyone attending the seminar will receive a voucher for a FREE HEALTH CHECK at the AWLQ Community Vet Clinic for their senior pet as well as a goodie bag,” Ms Whitney says.

The AWLQ feature event is a ‘Beach Breakfast’ with the dogs

“Our beach breakfast will showcase the AWLQ’s daily dog enrichment program and introduce the dogs to visitors away from a shelter environment,” Ms Whitney says.

Spaces for the weeklong event are filling quickly, reserve your spot by phoning 0755099030.
