Paws + Connect is AWLQ’s latest fundraising initiative for our welfare work, de-stress you and your workmates and connect adorable shelter dogs with humans whilst at the same time fundraising for AWLQ
Every Friday the fundraising team from AWLQ will be out visiting workplaces in the Brisbane and Gold Coast area providing your workplace with a minimum of doggy playtime. It’s easy, firstly all you have to do is convince your boss that a visit from AWLQ’s shelter puppies will be the best thing you did this week and then simply register below. Paws + Connect visits run every Friday so it’s a great way to start the weekend and raise much needed funds for favourite charity.
University studies have shown that petting animals is a great way to relieve stress and increase workplace productivity. 30 minutes of dog visits on a Friday isn’t intrusive to the work day and it’s a great way to put a smile on your employees’ face.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
When you register for Paws + Connect there are three levels of donations that we would you like you to aim for. As AWLQ is a non-government funded charity organisation that rehomes stray, abandoned and surrendered animals, your donations go straight towards the protection, care and medication of animals in need.
Paws + Connect visits require a minimum fundraising commitment which can be activated in a number of ways.
$500 – If you raise this amount your effort allows us to provide basic care for up to 15 animals a day. This includes an animal’s daily feedings, enrichment activities and beach/bush walking trips.
$750 – Is what it costs the AWLQ to provide care, desexing, worming, microchipping, flea treatment, vaccinations, vet exams, behavioural care and foster care if required to each and every homeless animal.
$1,000 – If you raise this amount our rehoming Vets can perform basic surgeries. This can mean anything from desexing multiple animals to a life-saving procedure that can give a stray, abandoned or surrendered animal a second chance at life.
If you are looking for ideas on how to raise funds to donate simply contact us, we are here to help.
Remember: Once you have registered you are set to go. We can supply marketing collateral to help you spread the word…
*Please note that all donations are tax deductible and you can be issued with a tax receipt on demand.
Companion animals are known to be natural conversation starters, with an amazing ability to bring people together! Sharing the companionship and affection of an animal allows staff to develop and reinforce connections between each other. AWLQ’s Paws + Connect allows colleagues to be more engaged in their office life and ultimately, improve morale, not to mention your team working together to raise funds for our charity.
Forget any corny team-building activities! Paws + Connect provides a wonderful opportunity to eliminate any awkward ice-breaking conversations for anyone who is a little shy or new to the team!
Having a furry friend in the workplace is absolutely guaranteed to put a smile on your dial! The pure happiness and warmth of a shelter animal is sure to melt your heart and relax your mind.
Studies and polls agree that pets in the workplace can decrease stress, improve morale and productivity, reduce absenteeism and increase staff retention rates.
Paws + Connect provides shelter with similar stress-relieving benefits as it does for humans. AWLQ’s program offers a great opportunity for the animals to interact and engage with new people outside of the shelter environment. Paws + Connect allows AWLQ’s animals to build their confidence with equally loving humans, providing them with great socialisation skills to take with them on their journey to finding their forever human companions.
Paws + Connect not only provides shelter animals with key life skills, it promotes the movement in choosing to adopt from a shelter and giving an animal a second chance.
You can adopt! AWLQ’s animals which are visiting workplaces around the city are all available for adoption! This means that they are all desexed, microchipped, up to date with their vaccinations, had a complete veterinary examination and have been treated for the prevention of fleas and intestinal worms.
Providing that a suitable match is made during a workplace visit, AWLQ’s team will be there to answer any questions and follow adoption protocols with the animals’ best interest in mind. The best part? Your new furry friend will never have to step foot in a shelter again!
