Mittens is an independent old soul who has had a rough road behind her. Originally rescued from an abusive home, her new family tried to show her what it was like to be loved, but with her nervous nature she never really settled with the family dog. She is very much hoping that her future is brighter. She has some very specific requests when it comes to finding her new home. Being a very shy girl, she asks if it's possible to find a calm, quiet home with no small children or dogs. She has spent time with them in the past and is adamant that she is much happier and relaxed when it's just her and her humans. In the past she has been a little shy of males and prefers the company of women. She is very affectionate once she warms up to you and loves a pat so would make a lovely companion in the right home. We ask that you not judge her here at the shelter. This is not the environment to see her shine her brightest. Please give Mittens a chance and something to look forward to. She deserves more love than most and we believe the right human will look past her exterior and see the beauty within.
