We are continually inspired by the incredible compassion and support our community shows to ensure that Animal Welfare League Queensland is not only saving lives now, but tomorrow and into the future.
In times of uncertainty animals are there for us – by our side and helping to lift our spirits when times are tough. It has been heart-warming to witness an overwhelming, and generous response which has seen our supporters open their hearts and homes to 533 foster animals in need. This important work and ongoing support continues today.
Animal Welfare League Queensland promises to never euthanise a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in our care.
Our lifesaving supporters and foster program are vital in keeping this promise – providing animals the second chance at life they all deserve.
Without you, this program and the future of thousands of animals in need would be uncertain.
Animals like Bear, who is on a journey to recovery and has a heart-warming story to share that is something we could all do with right now.
Bear came into Animal Welfare League Queensland’s care through one of our community vet clinics after being hit by a car. With multiple injuries, including a broken front leg and back leg, Bear was in desperate need of lifesaving treatment.
Despite his extensive injuries, our dedicated team made it their mission to bring Bear back to health. This was only possible due to kind supporters like you.
Bear’s left front and back legs were severely damaged and required extensive reconstruction surgery, this involved inserting a plate into his front leg and a pin into his back leg. Following the surgery Bear began his recuperation and rehabilitation with Lucie, one of our loving foster carers.
Sadly Bear’s body rejected the pin that was inserted to repair his back leg and a severe internal infection began attacking his leg – our veterinary team was left with no option but to remove the leg to save Bear’s life.
Following weeks of veterinary treatment and the dedicated and compassionate care from Lucie, we can see dramatic improvements in Bear’s health – Lucie is helping heal him and helping him walk again.
Most importantly, Bear is smiling again. He will now be able to enjoy life, goofing around, learning new tricks and playing with his furry companions.
Your generous support has saved Bear’s life. You have helped make him smile again.
Animal Welfare League Queensland’s foster program and the commitment of our foster carers has never been more important. We are aware that these times are challenging for us all. We also know that you join us in caring deeply about abandoned and homeless animals.
If you are in a position to give, please know that your help is critical in supporting Animal Welfare League Queensland’s foster program and will be very much appreciated.
As always, thank you for your compassion today and throughout the year. You can smile knowing you will be saving the lives of animals in need.
P.S – Please consider making a donation, every little bit makes a world of difference to animals in need. The tax man won’t be smiling but animals will be :)
