Recently the AWLQ Gold Coast Rehoming Centre received a very special surrender. A beautiful one and a half year old Boston Terrier Cross named Snowy.
Instantly, this little lady won over the hearts of staff and volunteers with her waggy tail and happy-go-lucky attitude. No one could resist giving Snowy a pat and cuddle when she was around and she brought smiles and happiness everywhere she went.
Snowy wasn’t your average surrender though. She recently had surgery that had left her with only three legs. We didn’t know what kind of life Snowy had endured but what we found was that nothing was going to slow her down.
It took just three days for Snowy to be spotted by her new family online. Brooke Hodgson saw a video of Snowy on the AWLQ Facebook page and eagerly got in touch with the rehoming centre. Brooke knew that Snowy would be the perfect addition to their family for a very special reason.
Her email was as follows:
“Hello my name is Brooke and I am enquiring about your dog Snowy at the Gold Coast Centre. I understand you don’t do holds but I am wondering if you could make an exception for us.
My 1yr old daughter was born without her arm so I can only imagine how perfect they are for each other. It would be wonderful for her to grow up with a pet exactly like her and would give her so much of a confidence boost when she feels down.
I would love to be considered for him.”
Of course the AWLQ were happy to oblige.
The very next day Brooke brought her beautiful children Blake and Ella to the AWLQ to meet Snowy. Snowy knew that there was something special about this family as she was usually a bouncy, playful pup, but once she was around one year old Ella, Snowy knew to be gentle, licking Ella’s face and playing with Blake around the yard.
Brooke knew that Snowy was going to play a special part in her children’s lives and with that in mind decided to make Snowy an official family member.
Snowy settled in quickly to the Hodgson family and has two very best friends in Blake and Ella.
Ella and Snowy are the same age and have a long life of friendship ahead of them. They will be able to face the world knowing that they aren’t alone in their differences.
Our team have stayed in contact with Brooke, receiving photos and videos of the two reading stories, curled up on the couch and enjoying each other’s company.
At our rehoming centres there are happy adoptions daily but Ella and Snowy will be a match we will remember for a long time to come.
Thank you for choosing to adopt.
