Happy Tails – adoption stories
Enzo: A Home Run
Enzo (formerly Cookies) joined our family almost two years ago after we adopted him from the Coombabah centre at just three months old. Since then, he has grown into a playful, affectionate boy who absolutely loves water- whether it is chasing the hose in the backyard or heading to the beach.
His favourite toy is his soccer ball, and he could play all day if you let him. Last year, my Mum welcomed Macy (formerly Merry) from the Beenleigh centre, and the two are best friends. Enzo is a beautiful, friendly, and cuddly dog who has brought so much joy into our lives.
My partner and I were matched with Ollie on Easter Monday at the Warra shelter after a long search to add to our family. Ollie is the most kindest, gentle and loving soul that we have ever met and steals hearts everywhere he goes. He has been the beacon of our lives and can’t imagine life without him. In the short time, we have been on many adventures, laughed so much and shared so many memories. We didn’t save Ollie, he saved us and would couldn’t be more grateful for Nathan at the Warra shelter.

Motley: Fifteen Years of Purrfection
We got Motley (formerly Gingerbread) from the Gold Coast location back at the start of 2012 when he was just 12 weeks old. He was the only ginger and we weren’t looking for an orange cat particularly but he snuggled into all of the cuddles we gave him at the shelter and it was clear he was coming home with us 🥰 Motley will be 15yrs old this November and he still acts like a kitten, he goes for walks on his lead, learnt how to do tricks for treats, really loves carrots and carrot bags for some reason and when you ask him if he wants cuddles he chirps and rolls over and thats him saying yes. He really is the most unique cat and we feel so blessed every day to have him in our lives 💕

Potato: The Little Dog Who Stole Our Hearts
I rescued Potato from the AWLQ in Ipswich. Potato has been in our family for 3 months now!
We have nicknamed him “Tato”. When I first saw him on the adoption page I fell in love – I said to my partner if he was there once I finished my rotation of work I’d go and get him, and surprise surprise Tato waited for us!!
I have always wanted a pug and he happens to be a pug x beagle. A dream come true!
Tato is so is full of beans and love, he is very social and loves a swim at the beach or a trip to the coffee shop… but loves a couch snore (a true pug). I can’t recommend adopting enough, best decision ever.

Bella and Leo: Double the love
We found ourselves in a home without one or two cats for the first time in 24 years when we lost our beautiful Layla at the end of February. We looked for an older cat or two and came across Bella and Leo at the Coombabah shelter. We think it was a sign when we arrived at the car park and the song on the radio as we got out of the car was none other than Eric Clapton’s Layla. We think that was her giving us the ok to adopt more despite our grief.
Bella and Leo were lovely from the moment we met them and we knew they would be ours. Next week they will have been with us for 3 months, and as you can see they have settled into their new home very well. It’s quite lovely having a sibling pair and we so grateful that they chose us in return.

Wilson: Gaining a New Best Friend
We adopted Wilson (patrick) in January last year, he was a part of the spongebob litter. We thought we were just bringing home a dog but we ended up gaining a best friend. Wilson has brought so much love, laughter, and happiness into our lives. From his goofy little moments to the quiet cuddles after a long day, he truly made our house feel like a home. It’s hard to imagine life before him now.
Thank you for helping us find our perfect boy. Wilson is so deeply loved, spoiled every single day, and living the happiest life possible.
