Bring in Halloween with the Animal Welfare League of Queensland on Saturday 29th October with the inaugural Halloween Hounds family fun day.
Halloween Hounds will see pet lovers and dogs from all corners of the Gold Coast unite for a super spooky but spectacular Halloween display.
Pet lovers are encouraged to dress up their pets and themselves for the Halloween Hounds parade, with prizes for best dressed and look-a-like’s to be won.
Registration for the parade is just $5 per dog with all proceeds going to the Animal Welfare League, a non for profit organisation dedicated to re-homing over 10,000 stray and abandoned animals each year.
But it’s not just a parade.
The Halloween Hounds family fun day will also include face painting, a fundraising barbeque and a special guest appearance from Scooby Doo and the Mystery Inc gang.
Event creator and Educational Director of the Animal Welfare League of Queensland’s Zoe Hinds says the event will bring Halloween and animals together to help raise vital funds for the shelters.
“The aim is to attract pet lovers to the shelters and view our beautiful animals as well as show off their own in a fun, family fundraiser.”
Ms Hinds admits it’s a great time to be silly with your pet.
“So many pets are dressed up on a day to day occasion by their owners and Halloween Hounds is a fun, quirky, fundraising excuse for costume enthusiasts.”
The Animal Welfare League is hoping to raise over $2000 from the event to continue to feed and care for South East Queensland’s stray and abandoned animals.
The Halloween Hounds family fun day kicks off at 11am and goes until 1pm at the Coombabah Shelter on Shelter Road.
