In last week’s Happy Tails we showed you a YouTube video featuring Kirra the Greyhound. We are happy to announce that it was that email and more importantly that video which saw Kirra find her forever home the very next day.

Kirra was surrendered to the Animal Welfare League of Qld after her owner moved interstate. At seven years old Kirra was a gentle girl who was looking for a quite home with another dog to keep her company. In her previous home she shared her life with a Pomeranian so our staff hoped they would be able to find her an owner with a small dog to be her new best friend.

When Wendy the owner of a very active and extremely charming Italian Greyhound named Alfie saw Kirra’s video she immediately showed her husband David. David had always wanted to adopt an older Greyhound as he felt it was important to give the gentle giants a retirement they could truly enjoy. They had the space with almost three acres for their new dog to enjoy so they decided that Kirra may just be the dog for them!

Upon meeting Kirra, Wendy said that she loved her calm, placid and loving nature as it complimented Alfie’s outgoing playful personality perfectly.

Wendy completed Kirra’s adoption and took her home that very day. She says in the last week Alfie and Kirra have become best friends and surprisingly enough Kirra’s gentle temperament has rubbed off on little Alfie who has been seen sitting back and watching his new big sister.

We look forward to hearing all about the adventures these two are sure to have.
