From the 2nd to the 8th of April the Animal Welfare League of Qld is offering $100 off the adoption fee on all their brindle and marble coloured dogs, for one week only.
Marketing Manger Brooke Whitney says there are loads of brindle coloured dogs currently looking for new homes at Ipswich, Beenleigh and on the Gold Coast.
“We have noticed a trend that darker coloured animals tend to take longer to re home, we aren’t sure why this is but could perhaps be because they are less noticeable then their lighter coloured companions”, Ms Whitney says.
“It is a sad fact but it is why we have decided to take $100 off the adoption fee so we can see some of these gorgeous dogs find their forever homes and a new happier life for themselves’, she says.
Medium and large dog’s adoption fees currently start at $240 this means Queensland families can now adopt a new pet from as little as $140. Puppies start from $350 bringing it down to $250 for a brindle puppy.
All the dogs that are available for adoption are de sexed, micro chipped, fully vaccinated and wormed and are very eager to please.
“It costs our shelters approximately $500 in medical bills, food and assessments to ensure an animal is ready to be rehomed so we are incurring an incredible loss, but our aim is to get some of our longer term dogs in to homes as soon as we can.”
“We are open throughout the Easter break (except Good Friday) and encourage anyone looking to adopt an animal to come and pay us a visit”, Ms Whitney says.
