We were there when Dory’s world fell apart – thanks to you.
Dory’s world fell apart when her loyal companion passed away. Instead of looking forward to spending time with her best friend, all she could think about was how she would cope without him.
Dory’s extended family turned to AWLQ for support during their greatest time of need as they could trust AWLQ to do the right thing by Dory.
When AWLQ was founded in 1959 a commitment was made to provide animals a second chance at life. And, no matter what, we will always maintain this commitment. At the same time, we will continue to work tirelessly every day to maintain our promise – to never euthanise a healthy, sociable, or treatable animal in our care. We make this commitment to you as a supporter, and as a promise to the animals.
Animals like Dory, who spent 102 days being lovingly cared for by AWLQ’s dedicated staff and an incredible foster carer. She has since found a loving new home.
AWLQ relies solely on the support of generous people like you, who share our commitment to create a brighter future for animals in need and provide animals like Dory a second chance at life.
This Christmas, if you are in the position to donate to AWLQ, you’ll be immediately making a difference and giving thousands of animals the hope they need.
As always, thank you for your compassion today and throughout the year.
I hope you have a safe and happy Christmas and we look forward to a much brighter 2021.

Within a few days, her sweet personality started to shine through the grief.
My name is Toni and I would like to share with you the story of our Dad’s beloved companion Dory.
Dory was welcomed into my Dad’s home 10 years ago – it wasn’t long before Dory stole Dad’s heart and these two became an inseparable duo. They absolutely adored each other and were never far apart – she snuggled with him in bed every single night.
One day Dory was waiting patiently for her constant companion to return from an outing but sadly Dad never did. Dory’s world fell apart when our beloved Dad, her loyal companion, passed away. Instead of looking forward to spending time with her best friend, all she could think about was how she would cope without him.
Devastated at the thought of losing our Dory too, as we were unable to keep her, our family turned to AWLQ for support. We knew if anyone could give Dory a second chance she deserved, AWLQ would.
AWLQ was there for Dory during her greatest time of need – they welcomed her into their care. After the heartbreak of losing her true friend, one of AWLQ’s dedicated staff members couldn’t bear the idea of Dory being in kennels so fostered her at their home. Within a few days, her sweet personality started to shine through the grief.
Dory has been blind for a number of years now and sadly her eyes began causing her medical issues, it was decided that removing her eyes was the most humane option. Dory spent time recovering and she was soon ready for adoption. Dory found a new home and is now loving life in her new family. For this, we will be forever grateful.
I cannot thank AWLQ enough for being there for us. It isn’t easy at all surrendering a pet but we had no choice, and AWLQ was there for us every step of the way. Please donate today and help AWLQ continue to be there for animals in need.
