Don’t focus on what’s missing; work with what’s there. That is the motto I now live by to ensure I enjoy the ultimate cat life. You see I am a newly created tripod and am ready to flaunt my new figure.

I know there is the saying ‘good things come in small packages’ but I say ‘good things come in special packages’. I definitely give off that special vibe as I sport just three legs – two behind and one in front. But I’m not complaining because I have a sneaky suspicion my so-called ‘misfortune’ may attract a little extra attention from the ladies.

I am an 8 month old Silver Tabby and a master of hugs and affection. Present me with an open lap and I will pounce. Quick smart. You know you can’t just leave a cosy, cuddly lap unattended and not expect me to take advantage. I am not too proud to admit that I don’t mind the odd smooch too. As my foster mum Chloe says “Flick has his moments where he is super outgoing and just wants to play but then other times when he just wants to cuddle.”

Originally I was adopted from the Animal Welfare League of Queensland as a kitten but then my owners surrendered me. The vet staff discovered I had an old break in my leg, which needed to be amputated. While I was at the vet clinic I stopped eating and became very stressed which saw me come close to being euthanised. That was until Chloe, who works at the clinic, took me home and showered me with love. I charged back to health and a week later I had my surgery. I have been full of beans ever since.

I often hear Chloe saying things like ‘he has bounced back beautifully’ and ‘missing a leg doesn’t bother him at all’. Honestly I don’t know what all the fuss is about. After all I am a spring chicken with another eight lives ahead of me! I admit there are times when I am a bit forgetful and go to use my front leg. I often catch myself looking down to see just a little stump wiggling, then it all clicks and I think ‘oops, I forgot again!’

Chloe has given me the nickname the ‘little purr machine’. But you know what they say, a constant purr equals a happy cat. I am what they call a people person. If you are itching for some love I will deliver. And I don’t mind the odd doggie playdate too – but rest assured there is no competition there because as we all know, cats are far cuter than canines!

Although I am an energetic fur ball, I am bit of a homebody. I feel most comfortable in familiar surroundings that is why I am ready and raring to parade my new look to the world. I hope someone will be kind enough to snap me up and let their home be mine too. Please don’t be put off by my appearance, you can pick me up for hugs and I can still run, climb and pounce. The only special treatment I need is a truckload of love and some warm cuddles would definitely be a bonus in my eyes.

Since my surgery Chloe has topped up my confidence and in just a few months my fur will have grown back and as she says I will be ‘cuter than ever’. In the meantime I will wait patiently for my forever friend.
