This Valentine’s day the Animal Welfare League of Qld will play cupid, finding the perfect companion for single people all over South East Qld.

It’s a tongue in cheek way to find a companion of a different kind who will be there for you no matter what.

AWLQ spokesperson Brooke Whitney says that the three rehoming centres located in Ipswich, Beenleigh and on the Gold Coast will offer 20% off all adoptions to singles when they choose to adopt on February 14.

“The shelter will undergo a ‘love’ overhaul, our aim is to make it the most romantic and happy place to be this Valentine’s day”.

The shelter rehoming staff will act as Cupid with matchmaking the theme of the day.

“If you are not sure what sort of a pet you are after you can list the ‘qualities’ you find attractive in a companion and the rehoming staff will do the rest”, Ms Whitney says.

It’s a way to promote the animals looking for a new home and the AWLQ hope they will be able to make some space in the kitten enclosures for the dozens of kittens on their waiting lists and in foster homes.

“The cat enclosures are packed to the rafters, it is always a busy time of year with un-desexed cats breeding due to warmer weather, we hope this campaign will help create some space in the kennels and enclosures,” Ms Whitney says.
